Today we’d like to introduce you to Ellis Dews.

Alright, thank you for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
I am a self-taught musician. I learned my way around the keyboard and how to write songs by studying records from some of my favorite artists/producers—not realizing in the early days of my musical journey that I was absorbing the record production more than my actual instrument. After being in a few bands, I quickly realized I enjoyed creating my music more than playing someone else’s. I started writing and producing local artists in my hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio. I had no doubt that studio life was for me. I wanted to be closer to the music industry. So I decided to move to Nashville. Once I got settled, I began producing demos for a few local publishers here and there. I was always looking for different outlets for my music, which led me down a slightly different path musically and career-wise. That was producing music for media (Film/TV and Ads). The creative challenges and unlimited opportunities inspire me to make music daily.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey has been anything but smooth. Anytime you pursue a worthwhile dream, it will come with its challenges. A common struggle among creatives is figuring out ways to make a living doing what you love. I am no stranger to that situation. It can be quite a rollercoaster ride, especially when you decide to pack up everything and move to a new city with hopes of making it happen. Talk about pressure! I’ve done this several times and brought my family along for the ride.

What matters most to you? Why?
Living a life of integrity and positively impacting the people I come into contact with. The impression you may have on someone stays with them. They may not even remember your name, but they will remember how they felt around you.Ellis Dews Nashville Voyager Interview
